Mesemerized! This was the first Bead Shop I ever entered and while I enjoy searching them out on my travels, I’ve never experienced another one like it. There was so much to see. So much to enjoy and inspiration! The store was so well organized and the people were so welcoming. I am sure they had no idea the impact that they and their little shop had on me. Especially since it would be several visits before I would start making choices and sit down to put some designs together.
Which lead to my study of beads… “The History of Beads: Concise Edition from 30,000 B.C. to Present” by Lois Sherr Dubin was a great place to start! BTW, even she went on to expand this to 100,000 B.C. in a revised edition. This book became an inspiration for many of my designs. It also taught me that jewelry is a primal human expression.
